Run a pre-approved (whitelisted) app as admin

We have whitelisted some common apps that need administrator rights to run, such as Dell or HP drivers or Logitech apps.

Right-click on the installer. Click Run as administrator. 

You’ll see this prompt where you click Yes. The installer continues with admin privileges.

Run an unapproved app as admin

Right-click an app and click run as admin. You’ll be presented with the following screen, where you need to enter a reason. This is logged to our console for NBT Endpoint Team to review later and possibly whitelist. You’ll need to MFA to let the app run as admin.

Request that your Windows session be elevated to have admin privileges

Right-click the green checkmark icon in the taskbar, and click Request Administrator Access. This lets you run as admin for a set time. This time limit is also group based so NBT staff may have an hour, but a business user might be given 10 to 15 minutes to complete a task after an access request is granted.

You’ll see a timer at the bottom right with how much time is left in your admin session.

Change your IP, Add a Printer, and more typically require admin rights.
